The limit of magic would be directly defined by how much ichor you put towards a spell, with there being a finite amount. Human-produced liquids would work too, but ew. To coincide with the three colour types, I'd also include blood and maybe milk. The tears wouldn't have to be sad, and perhaps the morality of spells could be defined by how the tears are produced. Instead, maybe a sorcerer's staff or a pendant or any form of non-biological container could be filled with a liquid element sourced from something holy, like the tears of blessed animals. I'd shy away from referring to ink in relation to magic within the lore since I saw someone describe an amazing ink system of magic here a while ago and I wouldn't want to dampen theirs. Since the system is based on printing standards, I'd set the limit of power the same as the limit of a printer: cartridges. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here, the question seems a bit loose, so I'll just say what I'd do with that system. I love the whole relating a magic system to real-world concepts. sort of like dancing and what can separate gods from humans is that they don’t have to use special movements. It’s still a bundle of ideas, but I want to discuss how I can maybe make it unique, maybe they have to move their body a certain way to do attacks.

It’s possible for those who have the ability to, to be able to take, give or stop the magic of others.įor magic types, there’s energy, physical, mental, life, and space and time, however I don’t know how to separate the gods from the humans, to keep it sort of leveled, maybe the gods could have a human form that heavily restricts their magic, but still makes them powerful (this tied into this idea I’m thinking about with god factions). Magic powers could also be inherited from parent to offspring, so there could be a whole family tree of lightning users. The magic powers could be drawn from their souls and channeled through their body and maybe there’s crystals can contain magic abilities that magic or non-magic users can use. I may take some stuff from it, but I was thinking about creating a hybrid magic system, but leaning more on the hard side. The type of magic they have is basically their soul type and they channel this power through their body, like a fire user could propel himself by blasting fire from his hands, feet, or mouthĪnd that’s basically it, theres barely limitations, the only consequence for over using abilities that I could think of was that your soul corrupts and you become a monster, and there’s no way of knowing how much power someone has. For CYMB, C represents godly physical magic control,Y represents space and time magic, M is godly energy magic, and B is omnipotent. R represents energy magic (like fire, wind, and light), G represents life magic (like healing, buffs, and nature), and B physical magic (like water, earth). So in my story, a god of creation uses most of his life force to transform the world he created new animal species, added new pieces of land, gave animals and people magic, and created new races humans (Demi-humans, elf’s, oni, etc.)įor the magic system, I wanted the powers to be based on colors, RGB and CYMB, humans and animals use RGB, while the gods use CYMB. Thanks to /u/lemonyellowdavintage for our logo and flairs!Īfter loosely making one for my story, I’ve become on the fence about it since it feels pretty stale and all over the place.
